GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- With a 2-0 win over Wesley on Senior Day, Gwynedd Mercy remains undefeated in conference play and extends their win streak to four games.
Prior to the contest, the Griffins honored their four seniors;
Kaitlyn Lutz,
Shannon Carroll,
Maggie Walsh, and
Sarah Crane along with their families
In a setting fit for the day, a senior opened up the scoring on afternoon. Lutz scored her second goal of the season off a corner off a pass from
Michaela Swenk into a goal at the 17:42 mark.
In the second half, after getting multiple corners back to back,
Lauren Jani was able to put the ball in the back of the net for her team-leading fourth tally, GMercyU kept Wesley away from the goal until the 67th minute of play, allowing just one shot. Goalie
Sarah Crane was the backbone to her third-straight shutout.
Gwynedd Mercy got off nine shots throughout the game forcing goalie, Sidney Knott to make four saves. The team produced 11 corners compared to Wesley's three.
The Griffins will be back in action on Tuesday when they hit the road at Marywood. On Wednesday they'll finish up their suspended game against Stockton from September 26th. The game will resume in the second half with GMercyU leading, 1-0.
