SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy picked up their fifth win in a row and fourth-consecutive shutout in a 2-0 Atlantic East victory at Marywood Tuesday night.

Second-half goals from Caitlyn Thornton and Shannon Carroll and a stout defense was the difference on a blustery evening.

The first half saw the Griffins put together nine shots, including a late penalty stroke that was no good, but could not get on the board. The team held the Pacers to two shots in the stanza.

Thornton netted her second goal on the year as the rookie converted on one of the 10 second half penalty corners. With 14:34 left, Kaitlyn Lutz fed Thornton on a corner for the game's first goal. Carroll helped with an insurance tally at the 6:08 mark, with her third goal of the season. Maggie Walsh assisted on the score on a penalty corner.

Goalie Sarah Crane made one stop in the first half and did not see a shot in the second, to notch her fourth shutout in four conference games so far this season.

Kerri Mountz recorded eight saves for Marywood.

Gwynedd Mercy continues play tomorrow as they will complete their suspended game with Stockton from September 26th.
