GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Stockton snapped Gwynedd Mercy's win streak with a 2-1 decision in overtime Wednesday afternoon. The game was resumed after a weather stoppage from September 26th.
With the Griffins leading 1-0 after a goal from
Lauren Jani in the first half, the Ospreys answered with a counter with 10:35 left in the second to end a five-game unbeaten streak for GMercyU.
Gwynedd had four corners in the second, including two after the tying goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the extra session, GMercyU produced two corners and got two shots off, but Stockton goalie Emily Gilligan came up with two stops.
With just over a minute on the clock in the first overtime, Kassidy Wentzell sent a long insert pass where Victoria Caiazzo was able to get it by Gwynedd keeper
Abi Kennedy.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they play at Washington College.
