SCRANTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy opened their Atlantic East Conference slate on Wednesday, battling Marywood to a 1-1 tie.
The Griffins got a goal in the final five minutes of regulation as
Kevin Bowers put in his third tally of the year to send the game to overtime with an assist from
Hugh Lynch.

Kace Peters notched a career-high 11 saves including four in the overtime periods.
After a scoreless first half, the Pacers (1-7-1, 0-0-1 Atlantic East) got on the board first, getting a goal in the opening minutes of the second from Dominic DeGeorge.
GMercyU, who had five shots in each half, was able to tie things up when Bowers finished a cross after a long sprint into the box.
Marywood outshot Gwynedd, 5-1, in the extra session but Peters and the Griffin defense would not allow the game winner.
Gwynedd Mercy (0-10-1, 0-0-1 Atlantic East) continues conference play on Saturday when they host Marymount here in a 1 p.m. start.
