ASTON, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy wrapped up the #1 seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Tournament with their 2-0 win at Neumann on Wednesday afternoon.
The Griffins finish a perfect 5-0 in Atlantic East play without yielding a goal in 350 minutes. The clean sheet is the team's ninth this season, which is a program record.
Shannon Carroll and
Lauren Jani scored for GMercyU as the team racked up 20 shots and 13 corners on the night. Goalie
Sarah Crane made two saves for her fifth shutout of the season and tenth all time to move her into second place.
Carroll scored her fourth on the year in the 19th minute off an assist from
Alyssa Tomsic for the 1-0 lead. In the second half, Jani notched her team-leading seventh in the 47th minute. It was more than enough for the defense which limited the Knights to seven shots on the evening.
Gwynedd Mercy will conclude the regular season on Saturday when they welcome Lebanon Valley in a 3 p.m. start. The Griffins have earned a first-round bye and will host an Atlantic East Semifinal game on Wednesday, October 31st.
