GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Six saves from goalie
Kace Peters and a first-half goal from
Abdul Bangura gave Gwynedd Mercy its first win on the season in a 1-0 non-conference victory over Delaware Valley Tuesday evening.
Peters made three saves in each half to cement his first career shutout. It was also a night of firsts as Bangura netted his first collegiate tally in the 39th minute.
The Aggies looked to strike early, as a centering pass gave way to an open look but Peters was able to push the shot over the crossbar.
Hugh Lynch set up Bangura's goal as he created space in the left corner and treaded his way along the endline. He threaded a pass through two defenders where a flying Bangura got his head on the ball past Delaware Valley goalie Josh Jarrett.
Despite holding a 5-4 advantage in shots in the first half, the Aggies produced 10 in the second and had seven corner kicks total.
For Lynch, it was his team-leading fourth assist on the season.
The Griffins will close out the 2018 season this Saturday when they host Rosemont on Senior Day. First kick is slated for noon.
