Quick Start Too Fast For Men's Soccer

ASTON, PA. -- Three early goals from Neumann put Gwynedd Mercy in a tough spot as the Griffins fell to the Knights, 3-1, in an Atlantic East Conference contest on Wednesday.

Kevin Bowers netted his team-leading fifth goal on the year, this one on a penalty kick in the 56th minute.

The Griffins were called for a penalty in the box in the game's first minute, resulting in a penalty kick goal from Marlon Trejo for an early 1-0 edge. Forty-seven seconds later, Gavin Ford struck from a free kick making it 2-0. Ford later assisted on a score from Andrew Kelly three minutes later.

Gwynedd had five of their six shots in the second half, including a header attempt from Gersi Hoxha in the 67th minute that just went over the crossbar.

After a card was issued on a foul in the box, Bowers stepped in and converted on his second PK goal this season.

Goalie Joe Duffy recorded five stops in net while the tandem of Shane Smith and Danny Lewis combined for one save for the Knights.

Gwynedd Mercy now travels to Cabrini on Saturday, needing a win or tie and a Marywood loss to clinch a playoff berth.
