GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Immaculata's Chad Catalana scored in overtime to decide an Atlantic East Conference matchup Saturday afternoon, sinking Gwynedd Mercy, 2-1.

Gersi Hoxha scored for GMercyU, who netted his second goal on the year in the 57th minute. After the senior gathered a ball sent into the box on a free kick, his shot deflected off of an Immaculata defender to tie things up at 1-1.

Catalana worked a give and go with Mark Staudenmyer into the box where his tough angle shot got past Gwynedd goalie Joe Duffy 31 seconds into extra time for the golden goal. IU's Carl Vicere made it 1-0 as he lost a cleat going through the defense and sent the ball out of Duffy's reach to the high right corner in the 39th minute. 

Duffy did help the cause with four stops, three of which came in the second as the Griffin defense endured eight IU shots and a hit post to rally and send the game into overtime. In the first half 16 minutes into the game, Duffy came out of goal to intercept a long pass, but got taken down by an Immaculata attacker.  With a wide open goal, IU had a solid opportunity to score, but Mike Kerkering jumped in goal to block the attempt.

The Griffins now turn their attention to Wednesday, when they play at Neumann in conference action.
