ALLENTOWN, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had 15 different players register points as the Griffins used a balanced attack in defeating Cedar Crest, 70-51, Tuesday night in a CSAC matchup.
GMercyU took control of the game in the second half, as an 11-1 run to end the third quarter and a 12-1 spurt to open the fourth opened up a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Chyanne Fine totaled 13 points and nine rebounds, both team highs, and
Bianca Adams kicked in nine points, two assists, two steals, and a block for Gwynedd (7-6, 4-1 CSAC).
Sylera Waller led the Falcons (2-10, 1-4 CSAC) with a game-high 15 points. Meghan Gregory added 13 and Geminii Cabrera with 12.
Leading by two late in the first,
Olivia Roseman scored four seven points on the night in an 11-2 run to give the Griffins a 17-7 lead at the end of the period. Despite just two field goals in the second, Gwynedd kept their lead, as they got to the free throw line 12 times, making nine attempts. The team held a 31-22 edge at the break.
The Falcons made a move in the third, closing a 10-point gap to just three (40-37) with only 4:22 in the quarter. But Fine netted buckets on three-straight possessions while Adams connected on a three-pointer and the Griffins restored their double-figure advantage.
Gwynedd Mercy continues conference play on Thursday when they head to Clarks Summit.
