CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Basketball team won their third-straight Colonial States Athletic Conference road game Thursday evening with a 91-39 victory at Clarks Summit University.
Fourteen different Griffins entered the scoring column led by a team high 13 points each from
Julianna Hoisington and
Susan Bossler.
A hot shooting first quarter propelled the Griffins to a 29-8 lead after the first ten minutes of action. GmercyU made six three pointers during the stanza, highlighted by an 18-0 run over a five-minute span were Hoisington made a trifecta of three pointers.
A pair of
Chyanne Fine layups book-ended a
Marissa Sandone three pointer to start the second quarter to give the Griffins a 36-8 lead. A
Tolu Omole triple put GM up (42-13) just over the halfway through the quarter.
Jill Kane would make the Griffins' tenth three pointer of the half to hold a 48-18 advantage. A
Rebecca Fuehrer driving layup to beat the buzzer gave GMercyU a 50-20 halftime lead.
Sandone and
Larissa Leyes ignited a 12-1 run over a three-minute stretch using a pair of three's to end the third period. The run was capped by a
Sydney Thompson layup to give the Griffins a lead 73-29 after three periods of action. GMercyU closed out the game on a 16-5 spurt in the fourth, highlighted by three pointers from Bossler, Kane and Leyes to round out the 91-39 victory.
The Griffins finished with 15 three pointers on the evening and shot 33-of-68 (48.5%) from the field on 24 assists, five from
Bianca Adams to lead the team.
GMercyU out-rebounded the Defenders 46-22 and held the home team to 13-of-43 (30.2%) from the floor.
Alison Szyszko led the Griffins with seven rebounds while adding eight points.
Torri Erdman led all scorers with a game high 20 points for Clarks Summit.
The Griffins return home on Saturday to start a four game home-stand against Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1 p.m
