GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. --
Meghan Petroski scored and assisted on two more as Gwynedd Mercy notched a 3-2 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory over Keystone Tuesday evening.
The Griffins (4-4-1, 2-1-1 CSAC) built a 2-0 lead in the first half and held off a late charge from the Giants to give Keystone their first CSAC defeat.
Petroski set up
Erin Reitmeyer just six minutes into the contest giving the freshman her second goal of the season. Later in the stanza,
Grace Macnamara served up a corner kick which found the head of Petroski who knocked in her team-leading eighth on the year. GMercyU outshot the Giants, 7-1, in the first 45 minutes.
Keystone (4-4-1, 3-1 CSAC) got on the board early in the second on a score from Tristin Williams, but Gwynedd responded just over five minutes later as Petroski dribbled in towards the net from the baseline and found freshman
Victoria Braeunle on a nice one touch to restore the two-goal lead. The goal was the fifth for Braeunle.
The Giants would not go away, cutting into the lead in the 65th minute as Jenna Moranski made it a 3-2 game.
Gwynedd's defense took care of the rest, keeping Keystone out of the net to pick up the league win.
For the game, GM outshot Keystone, 15-7. Goalie
Kailey Hopkins recorded one stop while her counterpart, Rebekah Shepherd made five.
Gwynedd Mercy is back in action a week from tonight when they welcome CSAC foe Neumann in a 6 p.m. start.
