LANGHORNE, PA. --
Meghan Petroski joined a very distinct club as she became the fourth player in Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer history to surpass 100 career points, as the senior totaled four goals and an assist as the Griffins stormed to a 9-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference win at Cairn on Wednesday.
Petroski, who entered the game at 96 career points, set up the Griffins' first goal just 40 seconds into the game as she assisted on a goal from
Victoria Braeunle. After rookie
Erin Reitmeyer netted her first collegiate tally in the 20th minute, Petroski scored the first of her four goals just six minutes later. She would notch career point 101 with a goal in the 30th minute.
Leading 4-0 at the half, Petroski continued her scoring spree into the second, picking up back-to-back goals just 4:04 apart.
Braeunle also finished with two assists, while
Sarah Nedwick,
Samantha Brown, and
Cassidy Rudd additionally found the back of the net for GM (3-3-1, 1-0-1 CSAC).
The four goals scored by Petroski ties a single-game record while the nine goals scored were the second-most in the program record books. She joins Stefanie Wieland (183 points), Gwen Conte (121), and Dana Landis (118) in the century club. Petroski's assist moved her into a tie for third on the all-time career mark (28) as well.
Goalie
Kailey Hopkins made four saves for her second-straight clean sheet. Cairn keeper Mackenzie Paugh notched six stops.
The Griffins resume action on Saturday when they welcome Centenary in a CSAC clash starting at noon.
