Men's Soccer Falls In Overtime At Del Val

DOYLESTOWN, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime defeat at Delaware Valley on Wednesday for their second-straight overtime contest.

The Griffins (0-7-1) would strike first, as senior Matt Saba netted his first of the season, an unassisted tally at the 22:24 mark of the first. He would find space in traffic in the box to give GM the 1-0 lead. Gwynedd kept the pressure on, totaling seven shots and three corners in the first 45 minutes.

However, the Aggies (3-3) were able to even the score nine minutes into the second half on a header goal from Andre Permyashkin.

GM goalie Ryan Oyola made four of his five stops in the second half and got a big team save, keeping the ball out of the cage, right after Del Val was able to tie it at 1-1.

The game-winner came with 1:42 left in the first overtime as Del Val's Nick Miller was able to beat Oyola in the box.

Gwynedd Mercy, who played their third game in five days, totaled 17 shots to the Aggies' 11. Delaware Valley added four corner kicks in the second half.

GMercyU resumes action on Tuesday, September 26th when they open CSAC play hosting Neumann at 4 p.m
