GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy and Lancaster Bible battled for 110 entertaining minutes, but the two teams ended in a 0-0 tie Monday evening.
Goalie
Ryan Oyola made four saves including three big stops in the second half. He would deny a breakaway attempt with just under a minute in regulation with a sliding arm stop to keep things scoreless. His counterpart, the Chargers' Vann Sutphin had two saves, but both were just as important. His stop of
Kevin Bowers in the second and later off a header in the second overtime from
Matt Bachmann also kept GMercyU off the scoreboard.
Matt Saba looked like he had the game winner early in the first extra session, but his hard drive around a defender in the box found the bottom of the near post.
The Chargers outshot Gwynedd, 14-10, and had nine corner kicks to the Griffins' two.
The Griffins are right back at it on Wednesday when they head up Route 202 to take on Delaware Valley in a 4 p.m. start.
