Seniors Honored As Griffins Battle Neumann

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Neumann crashed Gwynedd Mercy's Senior Day festivities, handing the Griffins a 19-7 defeat in the final regular-season home game on Saturday.

Before the game, the team honored its five seniors with a special ceremony honoring the players and their families: Christy Knipe, Aubrey Cook, Christi Gibbs, Haley Williams, and Kerri Flanagan.

Samantha Brown led the Griffins (2-9, 2-4 CSAC) with three goals while Flanagan, Gibbs, Lauren Mitros, and Saige Brown also tallied. Brown registered seven draw controls while Mitros nabbed five. Williams and Mitros were tops on the squad with four groundballs apiece.

Taylor Klever led the Knights (5-7, 4-1 CSAC) scoring a game-high four goals. Kaitlyn Conrad added three tallies and a pair of assists.

Klever and Conrad had two goals each in a stretch that saw Neumann pace ahead to a 9-0 lead midway in the first. Brown would net her first collegiate goal at the 8:43 mark to get the Griffins on the board. After Gibbs netted her second on the season from a nice pass from Cook, the Knights scored three more times over the final 5:10 of the stanza to take a 13-2 lead at halftime.

Goalie Bria Gillard made 10 saves between the pipes. The duo of Gabby Curry and Becca Wallace combined to make five stops.

Gwynedd Mercy now plays its last four regular-season games on the road. First up is a matchup at Cedar Crest on Tuesday.
