BETHLEHEM, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy got five goals each from
Haley Williams and
Samantha Brown while
Lauren Mitros added four as the Griffins pulled away from Cedar Crest in a 19-6 Colonial States Athletic Conference win Tuesday afternoon.
For Williams, the five goals were a career high as GMercyU (3-9, 3-4 CSAC) used a six-goal spurt over the last 7:22 of the first half to turn a one-goal lead into a 11-4 edge at the half.
The goals kept coming in the second, as Williams scored three times in a span of five goals over the first 15:36 of the second stanza to help pull away for good.
Aubrey Cook added three tallies and teammates
Christy Knipe and
Gina Giovinco also scored for GM. Knipe chipped in four draws, which was a personal best, and a caused turnover. Brown tied her career high with seven draws as the team totaled a season-best 18 on the day.
Goalie
Bria Gillard registered six saves in net while Cedar Crest keeper Kristen Payes also made six.
Lauren Felix and Alexandra Zoda recorded two goals each for the Falcons (0-7, 0-5 CSAC).
Gwynedd Mercy will head to Marywood on Tuesday with a chance to move closer to a playoff berth. With just two conference games remaining, the Griffins need wins and some help.
