SCRANTON, PA. -- Marywood downed Gwynedd Mercy, 19-3, on Tuesday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.
The game marked a matchup of Griffin first-year head coach
Shannon Algeo, a former assistant at Marywood for the last two seasons, returning to Scranton to face the Pacers.
Rookie
Samantha Brown netted all three goals and added four draw controls for GMercyU (3-10, 3-5 CSAC), who now need a win on Saturday at Notre Dame of Maryland to secure the sixth and final playoff seed.
Aubrey Cook added three groundballs, two draws, and a caused turnover.
Goalie
Bria Gillard recorded 11 saves in the first half to finish with 13 for the contest. MU keeper Lauren Smith recorded three.
Sam Bussinelli had four goals and three assists while teammate Ashley Valway totaled three goals and four assists. The Pacers (10-4, 7-1 CSAC), winners of their last seven in a row, led 13-1 at the half.
The season is on the line this Saturday as Gwynedd and Notre Dame of Maryland will battle it out for the #6 playoff seed.
