GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. --
Jessica Behr drove in a total of four runs and hit a pair of home runs as Gwynedd Mercy and Keystone split a CSAC Twinbill Wednesday afternoon. The Griffins took game one, 9-5, but lost in the second, 7-3.
Game One
Despite falling behind, 3-0 in the top of the first, the Griffins answered with two in the second and a big six-run second to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Ryleigh Fitch hit an RBI single and Antonette Sciapli added a two-run double to stake the Giants to a quick 3-0 edge in their first at bat. GMercyU would get two back in the bottom half on a two-out, two-run double from
Nikki Canfield. For Canfield, that would be her 27th career two-bagger, which moves her into first place in the program's record books.
Gwynedd used just three hits and took advantage of two errors and two walks to plate six runs. With the bases loaded and no outs,
Alexis Gartner reached on an error by pitcher Alyssa Hughes which scored two runs. Later in the frame and with two on,
Jessica Behr smacked a three-run home run to right.
Fit would knock in a run and later score in the third to cut the lead to 8-5.
Starter
Alyssa Morales scattered five runs on eight hits as she worked into the fourth. Gartner then stepped in and yielded only four hits the rest of the way.
Officially, Behr was 2-for-4 with two runs scored three RBI's. Morales added two hits and two runs while walking once and stealing a base. Fitch had three hits and scored twice for Keystone.
Game Two
Keystone again got on the board early, scoring twice in the first courtesy of a two-run error. With runners on first and second and two outs, a ball hit to right wasn't pulled in correctly, allowing both runners to score. The Griffins looked to counter in the bottom half, getting runners on the corners with one out, but the team go unlucky when
Lauren Waller smoked a liner to second who was able to flip to first for the double play.
The Giants plated four in the third on four hits and an error to take a 6-0 lead.
Erin Hallahan' RBI groundout in the bottom half would get GM on the board.
Sara Stacey doubled home a run in the sixth before an RBI single from
Jenna Trythall tried to keep the Griffins in pace.
Another bit of bad luck struck in the bottom half of the seventh. After a lead-off single from
Becki Christoffers, Hallahan would hit into a similar double play that happened back in the first. Behr went deep on the next at bat for her fourth this season and 14 all time, which puts her one behind the leader,
Stephanie Farrar with 15.
Trythall was 3-for-3 while Morales and Waller added two hits apiece.
Marissa Campbell suffered the loss, as she was touched for six runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks.
