GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy had their second-half rally come up short as the Griffins fell to Keystone, 12-9, Monday evening in a rescheduled Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.
Kerri Flanagan tied a career high with four points, registering two goals and two assists.
Lauren Mitros and
Samantha Brown each tallied three goals but the Griffins (1-8, 1-3 CSAC) could not overcome a three-goal halftime deficit.
The Giants' Emily Hawkins was a thorn in the Griffin's side all night, long scoring five goals and assisting on three others. Hanna Zuchowski added four and Nina Hodanich netted three for Keystone (4-4, 2-2 CSAC).
Hawkins and Zuchowski combined to score Keystone's first seven goals to help them to a 7-1 lead midway through the first half. Gwynedd would score four of the final five scores of the stanza, including two from Brown over the last 2:24 before halftime.
After Hodanich's tally early in the second, Flanagan set up Cook for a goal. Cook would return the favor just under a minute later to make it a 10-8 contest.
Mitros, who also set a career high with 11 draw controls, scored the final Griffin goal with 12:14 to play as the Giants were able to tack on a late tally to account for the final score.
Christy Knipe collected a personal-best eight groundballs. Mitros added four caused turnovers while
Genny Lombardo registered three.
Griffin goalie
Bria Gillard recorded double-digit saves with 10. Keystone's Daphne Leenas finished with seven.
