HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. --
Jessica Behr continues to re-write the record books this season as she became the Gwynedd Mercy Softball Program's all-time home run leader while hitting for the cycle in a game two victory to earn a split at Centenary. Earlier in the week, she
became the all-time RBI leader in the DH sweep over Cairn.
The win in game two was much needed as the Griffins remain just a game out of the final spot behind the Cyclones for the CSAC Softball Tournament.
In that game two victory, an 18-10 win where Gwynedd collected a season-high 21 hits, Behr hit was 4-for-6 with five runs scored a pair of RBI's. She would triple in the third, double in the fourth, single in the fifth and homer in the sixth.
Lauren Waller drove in five runs and
Jenna Trythall and
Erin Hallahan each added three hits in the nightcap.
Hallahan drove in four runs and added two triples while Trythall knocked in three.
Starting pitcher
Alyssa Morales earned the win in the circle throwing a complete game.
Trailing 4-0 after the first inning the Griffins got on the board in the second on an
Alexis Gartner RBI single. GMercyU would tie the game 4-4 in the third on a Hallahan triple to plate a pair of runs. The Cyclones would retake the lead in the home half of the inning, 6-4.
The Griffins wouldn't look back thanks to a four-run fifth inning highlighted by a Trythall two-run single to take the lead for good at 7-6.
Behr's two-run homerun in the sixth was a part of a five-run frame that stretched the lead to 14-7. A
Lauren Waller bases-clearing double in the seventh would give the Griffins breathing room at 17-7. Centenary would battle in their last at-bat, but Morales was able to work out of the inning to get a ground-ball to Waller to end it.
In game one, the Griffins would lead 7-4 heading into the home half of the third inning but Centenary would score eight runs to retake the lead 12-7.
In the GMercyU seven-run third inning, they put together a six-hit inning with RBI's from Behr, Trythall,
Nikki Canfield, Hallahan and
Marisa Bentley.
Waller, Canfield and Bentley all collected a pair of hits in the opener as well.
Gwynedd returns home on Friday when they host Rosemont College at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader.
