Seniors Honored In Sweep Of Rosemont

Gartner pitches a no hitter in game one

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy closed out its home slate of the regular season on Friday, sweeping Rosemont in a CSAC Doubleheader as the team held its Senior Day. Alexis Gartner fired off a no hitter in game one, an 11-0 win followed by a two-run walk-off double from Kaeleigh Criniti in game two for a 9-1 victory.

The two wins leapfrog Centenary into the sixth and final playoff seed. Gwynedd can control its postseason destiny with two wins tomorrow at Cedar Crest to lock up a berth. Centenary takes on Keystone while the Falcons, ironically enough, sit one game ahead of the Griffins for the fifth seed.

Prior to the game, the team honored its two seniors: Marisa Bentley and Nikki Canfield.

Game one
Gartner walked just one while fanning a season-high four. Gwynedd got four RBI's from Jessica Behr who was 2-for-2 officially while Becki Christoffers added two hits and scored three times while adding a walk. Canfield added an RBI double.

Gwynedd (16-16, 12-8 CSAC) scored four in the first, two in the second and five in the fifth. Eight different batters drove in at least one run in game one.

Game two
Starter Alyssa Morales scattered one unearned run on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks. She would score in the bottom of the first off a single from Jenna Trythall.

The Griffins scored five in the second on four hits and three Raven errors.

Rosemont got on the board in the fifth when Ke'alohilani Naone-Carter plated Abby Wolfe with a two-out double.

In the bottom half, Bentley added her second RBI of the game followed by Criniti who ended it with her two-bagger in the gap in right center for the 9-1 win.

Naone-Carter was 1-for-3 while teammate Lena Buccigrossi was 2-for-2 for the Ravens (4-19, 2-18 CSAC)
