Griffin Women Ground Falcons

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Basketball team won their third game in a row on Wednesday evening over Cedar Crest College 64-52, in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

The Griffins were led by a quartet of double digit scorers. Charlotte Kucowski posted a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds for her eleventh double-double of the year. Bianca Adams and Nicole Dombrowski each scored 11 while Julianna Hoisington added 10.

GMercyU ran out to an early 11-3 lead at the 6:12 mark thanks to a Dombrowski layup. The Falcons would fight back only to trial by four 18-14 after the first period. The Griffins scored eight of their eighteen points in the paint and capitalized on with seven points on Cedar Crest turnovers.

Gwynedd would stretch their largest lead in the first half to fifteen (32-17) on a pair of Alison Szyszko free throws. They would take a 32-20 lead into the halftime break.

An Adams jumper with with 6:17 remaining in the third would give GM their largest lead of the night 40-24. The would hold the double-digit lead throughout the quarter and held a 46-34 lead after three quarters played.

Cedar Crest would hang around to trail by 10 (57-47) with just under three minutes remaining in the game but both teams would score 18 points in the quarter for the Griffins 64-52 victory.

For the game Gwynedd shot 23-of-70 (33%) with 18 team assists. Adams led GM with seven.

The Griffins also controlled the glass holding a 47-38 advantage. Hoisington grabbed seven while Monet McGorda added six along  with five points.

Taylor Osley led all scorers with a game-high 21 points with teammate Geminii Cabrera adding 20.

The Griffins will now hit the road after wrapping up a three game home-stand and will travel to Keystone College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip.
