RADNOR, PA. -- Cabrini defeated Gwynedd Mercy, 100-83, Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams and a battle for playoff positioning.
With the loss, the Griffins (19-6, 13-4 CSAC) settle in to the #3 playoff seed and will host sixth-seeded Centenary this Monday in a first-round matchup with a tentative start time of 8 p.m.
Arron Goodman scored 14 points to lead GMercyU.
Ty Jones added 14 with
Cedric Elleby (12 points) and
Courtney Cubbage (11 points) also reaching double figures. The Griffins shot just 31% in the first half (13-of-41) as Cabrini used a 7-0 run to close the stanza and lead 43-31 at halftime.
The Cavaliers (19-6, 15-3 CSAC) kept their scoring run into the second half as Deryl Bagwell hit back-to-back three-pointers to cap a 10-2 run, putting Gwynedd in a 53-33 deficit.
The Griffins tried to climb their way back, and would get the score to 77-66 with 7:52 left, but it would be the closest they could get. Cabrini went 23-of-30 at the free-throw line in the second half to help keep their lead over GM.
Bagwell would finish with 14 points, while Ryan Charity had a game-high 19. The Cavs hit 12 three-pointers on the day.
Gwynedd shot 55% in the second half and would outrebound Cabrini, 53-34.
