Seniors Shine In Home Finale

2017 Senior Night

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A balanced scoring attack helped Gwynedd Mercy notch its fifth-straight win in a 74-25 victory over Clarks Summit Wednesday evening in the home finale and on Senior Night.

The Griffins (14-10, 12-3 CSAC) will close out the regular season on Saturday at Cabrini. At stake is a possible #2 playoff seed and first-round bye with a win and some help. Four teams sit at 12-3 in conference play and will decide the #2-#5 playoff position after Saturday's action.

Prior to the game, the team and coaching staff celebrated Nicole Dombrowski and Charlotte Kucowski, the team's two seniors, and their families with a special ceremony.

The duo combined for 27 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, and five assists while shooting 12-for-19. Rookie Denise Sacco added 11 points and three steals, all season highs. As a team, GMercyU connected on nine three pointers, the most since the team had 11 against Keystone on January 11th.

Leading by three midway in the first, the Griffins used a 10-2 run to close the period and lead 20-9 after the first 10 minutes of play. The scoring spree stretched into the second, as Gwynedd scored the first 10 points of the stanza and would not look back the rest of the way.

Torri Erdman had 14 points and seven rebounds, both team highs, for the Defenders (0-22, 0-15 CSAC).

As a team, GM shot 30-of-65 (46%) and outrebounded Clarks Summit, 40-31. The squad also reached double digits in steals (15) for the fourth game in a row.
