SCRANTON, PA. -- The Griffins took down Marywood, 65-57, Wednesday night in their Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.

Bianca Adams netted 14 points while Susan Bossler added 11 as GMercyU (3-1, 1-0 CSAC) built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and used a big second to take a 40-21 lead at the half.

A three-pointer from Adams kickstarted a 14-2 run over the final 5:50 of the second quarter to turn a 26-19 game into a 19-point edge at the break. The Pacers cut it to 52-42 after three and would score the first five points of the fourth to make it a five-point game.

Sydney Thompson connected on a three followed by two free throws from Larissa Leyes and two more from Olivia Roseman in a span of less than two minutes helped restore a 62-48 score with 5:42 to play.

Marywood looked to climb back one more time as two free throws by Gab Giordano with 2:15 left sliced into the lead at 63-55. Roseman's steal on the next Pacer possession led to two more trips at the line to up the lead to 10 and help cement the outcome.

Giordano led the Pacers (0-4, 0-1 CSAC) with a game-high 19 points with teammate Erika Bistran chipping in 12.

Bossler was the team's top rebounder with seven. Allison Szyszko pulled down six and Thompson with five. The team held a 45-32 rebound edge.

Gwynedd Mercy continues conference play on Saturday when they travel to Centenary in a 1 p.m. start.
