CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's soccer team posted their second-straight shutout with a 10-0 road win at Clarks Summit University on Saturday afternoon to win their third Colonial States Athletic Conference contest in a row.
Meghan Petroski led the Griffin offense with three goals and three assists on the day.
Victoria Braeunle added a pair of goals while
Tori Goebig,
Christina Surette and
Francesca DeMaio all added tallies as well for the GMercyU offense.
The Griffins scored seven first-half goals with the first by Goebig just 1:30 into the game. Braeunle would put GMercyU up 2-0 just over a minute later. Both goals assisted by Petroski. Petroski would score her first goal at the 26th minute mark with an assist from goalkeeper
Kailey Hopkins. The strikers' goal was sandwiched in-between two Clarks Summit own goals.
Petroski would add another in the 29th minute assisted by
Samantha Brown. Surette would close out the first half scoring when she scored with just twenty seconds remaining on an assist from
Cassidy Rudd for the 7-0 halftime advantage.
Braeunle would add her second goal in the 60th minute with another assist from Petroski. In the 65th minute, Petroski netted the hat-trick when she made a run towards the goal and finished a deflection off the keeper. DeMaio would close out the scoring in the 85th minute.
For the game the Griffins outshot Summit, 31-4, and held and 8-2 corner advantage.
Hopkins recorded one save for the shutout win. Heidi Butterbaugh made 10 saves for Clarks Summit.
The Griffins return back to action on Tuesday when they will travel south to Notre Dame of Maryland University for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
