CLARKS SUMMIT, PA. -- Two second-half goals put Gwynedd Mercy in a deficit they could not climb out of in a 2-0 defeat to Clarks Summit in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
After a first half that saw 27 shots combined by both teams, the scoreboard still read zeros as the teams headed into the break.
The Defenders stuck early in the second stanza with a pair of goals just 47 seconds apart. Chad Stevens headed in a cross at the 42:57 mark followed by a score from Andres Tortola.

Ryan Oyola made eight saves on the day, while CSU keeper Evan Rarick recorded nine.
Shots were in favor of the Defenders, 25-21, as were corner kicks (8-7).
Gwynedd Mercy (1-10-1, 1-3 CSAC) will get back at it on Wednesday when they head to Scranton to face off with Marywood.
