ANNVILLE, PA. -- For the second game in a row,
Melissa Russo etched her name in the CSAC/PAC Record Books, as the senior became the conference's all-time goal leader as Gwynedd Mercy won their regular season finale on Saturday, posting a 3-1 win at Lebanon Valley.
Russo scored twice, her Division III leading 32nd and 33rd goals on the season, with the second giving her 94 career tallies, breaking the 11-year mark set by Alvernia's Becky Macchione.
Brianna O'Connell added her 20th on the season, early in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie.
Shannon Carroll assisted on both of Russo's tallies, to add to her conference-leading total of 14. The duo worked their magic, both on penalty corners. Russo's first goal came just 2:19 into the contest while her second added some insurance, helping build a two-goal lead with 18 minutes to play.
Isabella Vulopas scored for the Dutchwomen (6-12), who were closing out their regular season. Keeper Victoria ByDeley recorded 12 saves on the day.
Goalie
Sarah Crane made four stops in the first half with
Abi Kennedy totaling two in the second to help Gwynedd (15-3) win its seventh-straight game as the GMercyU now heads into the CSAC Playoffs on Wednesday. The top-seeded Griffins will host fourth-seeded Immaculata in a semifinal contest here starting at 7 p.m.
