GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Top-seeded Gwynedd Mercy advanced to the CSAC Championship for the eighth-straight year after a 9-0 semifinal win over fourth-seeded Immaculata Wednesday night.
The Griffins will take on Cabrini in the final here on Saturday in a 1 p.m. start. The two teams will meet for the eighth year in a row in the final as GM will aim to grab their first title since the 2014 season.
Melissa Russo scored four times and added an assist while
Brianna O'Connell kicked in two goals and two helpers as GMercyU (16-3) built a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of play. Russo's third of the night came with under a minute in the stanza to give GM a 7-0 lead at the half.
Alyssa Tomsic,
Shannon Carroll, and
Maggie Walsh also tallied for Gwynedd while the goalie combo of
Sarah Crane and
Abi Kennedy produced the team's seventh shutout of the season as the Griffins powered their way to their eighth win in a row.
Randie Kuhar made three saves in the first half with teammate Jackie Victor recording eight stops in the second for the Mighty Macs (6-14).
