IMMACULATA, PA. -- Two goals from
Madeline Swartley and seven saves from goalie
Kailey Hopkins helped propel the Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer Team to a 3-0 win at Immaculata in the regular season finale Thursday night.
The victory locks the Griffins (10-5-1, 8-2-1 CSAC) into the #4 playoff seed where they will host a first-round game on Monday against the #5 seed Neumann. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
For Swartley, the two goals were a career high while Hopkins recorded her eighth shutout on the season.
After Swartley's first-half goal,
Tori Goebig scored for GMercyU early in the second on an assist from
Sarah Nedwick. Later in the 83rd minute, Swartley added her second on the night, and third of the season. Both her goals each drew an assist from
Victoria Braeunle, tying a season-high.
The Griffins defeated Neumann here at home, 4-0, back on October 3rd. It will be the second all-time meeting between the two teams in the postseason. GM won on penalty kicks, 4-3, in a scoreless tie in a first-round matchup back in 2014.
