Women's Soccer Cages Falcons To Extend Win Streak

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Griffins picked up their fifth-straight win and fourth shutout in a row with a 3-0 win over visiting Cedar Crest Saturday afternoon.

Gwynedd had first-half goals from Erin Reitmeyer and Victoria Braeunle and a second-half tally from Sarah Nedwick to pick up their sixth conference win on the season.

Goalie Kailey Hopkins recorded her seventh clean sheet of the year as the junior recorded one save.

Hopkins and the Griffin defense limited the Falcons (6-8, 2-6 CSAC) to just two shots, the first of which didn't come until under seven minutes to play.

Reitmeyer put in her fifth on the season in the 23rd minute as she tracked down a bouncing ball into the box that got past Falcon goalie Morgan Maddock and into the open net for the 1-0 lead. Braeunle made it 2-0 minutes later with her ninth on the year as she finished a pass from Samantha Brown. GM outshot, Cedar Crest, 10-0, in the first half and had nine corner kicks.

In the 60th minute, Nedwick was able to get a handle on a corner kick after a short pass from Morgan McAndrews to account for the scoring.

Maddock made three saves in the first half. Teammate Cara Montanye recorded one in the second.

The Griffins (8-4-1, 6-1-1 CSAC) return to action on Tuesday night when Marywood visits for a big CSAC clash starting at 7 p.m.
