SCRANTON, PA. -- Marywood snapped Gwynedd Mercy's three-game win streak as the Griffins fell at the Pacers, 51-43, Wednesday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest.
Nicole Dombrowski had 19 points and 10 rebounds, both game highs, for her fourth double-double this season.
Julianna Hoisington kicked in nine and
Charlotte Kucowski had seven points and 10 boards, but the Griffins (9-9, 7-2 CSAC) were outscored, 18-9, in the final quarter.
Hoisington's three-pointer in the first helped stake GMercyU to an 8-2 lead. The Pacers were able to get it to 11-11 at the end of the stanza. The second quarter was just as tight, but Kucowski ended the half with a fast break bucket to give the Griffins a 20-19 edge going into the lockerroom.
In the third, Gwynedd would open the period on an 8-0 run, as Dombrowski would score all eight points. But a 30-21 lead shrunk to 30-27 after two Erika Thomas free throws with 3:53 remaining. Marywood got it to one (34-33) after three quarters of play.
Kylie Devlin's three-pointer to open the fourth gave the Pacers their first lead since the second period. Back-to-back field goals from Kucowski and
Monet McGorda helped GM reclaim the lead. But McGorda's basket would be only made bucket over the next seven minutes as the Pacers were able to go 8-for-11 from the free throw line in the final stanza.
Devlin totaled seven points off the bench while Gab Giordano led Marywood (12-6, 8-1 CSAC) with 11 points.
Gwynedd Mercy plays at Neumann on Saturday as part of a CSAC Doubleheader with the men.
