GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Men's Soccer team scored a thrilling 4-2 victory over visiting Widener University on Saturday afternoon.
Eric Smith put the Griffins up 1-0 early when he found the back of the net on an assist from
Tim Dailey just under four minutes into the contest. Widener would respond with goals in the 19th and 21st minute to take the lead, 2-1.
Matt Saba would tie the contest 2-2 on his first of two goals on the day when he connected on a cross through the box from
Mike Czajka, taking the teams deadlocked into the halftime break.
Saba struck again, this time for the eventual game winner at 68:25 mark when a deflected ball bounced right to his foot for the 3-2 Griffin lead. Brother
Danny Saba would tack on an insurance goal when
Matt Bachman found him with his through ball with just over 12 minutes to go.
The Griffins out-shot Widener 13-10 but the Pride held a 7-4 advantage on corners.

Tyler Blair each registered a save for GMercyU. Dave Sousa made four for the Pride.
The Griffins return back to action on Wednesday when they will host former PAC rival Arcadia at home at 4 p.m.
