Casey Griffith nearly recorded a triple double in the Griffins' win over Centenary to highlight a split at a tri-match hosted by Penn State-Abington on Saturday. Gwynedd Mercy took down the Cyclones, 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-19), but fell to the host Lions, 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-23).
Griffith registered a match-high 20 kills, along with nine aces and nine digs against Centenary, in a non-conference match. As a team, GMercyU served up 18 aces as well.
Maria Sansom,
Erin Dowd, and
Liz Schule each added four.
Schule and
Jessica Behr would each total seven kills. The squad would tally a hitting line of 37-8-78 (.372).
In their second match of the day, the Griffins had a power outage, totaling just 15 kills. Griffith led the pace with eight while adding 11 digs.
Gwynedd Mercy (2-5) will host Penn College on Tuesday night in the Griffins' home opener right here in The Griffin Complex starting at 7 p.m.
