ALLENTOWN, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer Team scored a 1-0 victory at Muhlenberg in their season opener Thursday evening.

Sarah Nedwick netted the game's only goal at the 31:20 mark as she was able to one-touch a centering pass from Anna Numerato.

Goalie Kailey Hopkins would make five of her eight saves in the second half to help preserve the shutout. It would be her first career start and first clean sheet. Muhlenberg's Marissa D'Alessandro posted two saves in net.

The Mules would fire off 14 shots for the night compared to the Griffins' eight.

The win snaps a seven-game winless streak to the Mules, dating back to a 1-0 Gwynedd win back in 2005.

The Griffins head to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to face off with Washington College on Saturday.
