GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Baseball team defeated Eastern University, 27-8, Monday afternoon in a non-conference matchup, pounding out 22 hits and drew 16 walks.

Jimmy Pisani, Dave Tatoian and Christian Carmolingo each had three hits for the Griffins (16-15). Pisani scored three runs knocking in two as well. Tatoian added a season-high four RBI's while Carmolingo knocked in three and scored three times, both career highs.

John Wallace capped off the Griffin offense with his grand slam in the eighth inning.

Frank Chubb earned the victory working five innings. He struck out seven allowing only three walks.

The Griffins plated runs in every inning but the sixth. They scored seven runs both in the fourth and eighth innings.

Tatoian, David Blount, Nick Joyce, Josh Lopez and Pat Ryder all recorded doubles on the day while Carmolingo added a triple in the fourth. In total, the Griffins totaled seven extra-base hits.

Joe Grato was 3-for-5 with four RBI's for the Eagles (14-20-3).

The Griffins return back to action on Wednesday when they host Delaware Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
