LANGHORNE, PA. --
Gino Tripodi threw a complete game shutout in the Griffins 5-0 nightcap victory over Cairn University on Saturday afternoon to help split a CSAC Doubleheader. The Highlanders took game one, 5-2 with three runs in the sixth inning to break a tie ballgame.
Tripodi struck out four allowing only three hits to pick up his fourth win on the season. The Griffins plated a run in the first when
David Blount knocked in
Jason Mulvey. The Griffins added a pair of runs in the third and the fifth to give Tripodi all the run support he would need.
In the third,
Nick Mulvey scored
Justin Curtin while Blount would add his second RBI of the game knocking in Mulvey. In the fifth,
Dave Tatoian drove in both Mulvey brothers with his one-out single to put GMercyU up 5-0.
Nick Mulvey, Blount and Tatoian each recorded a pair of hits in the nightcap.
Game one saw the Griffins score their only runs in the first inning. Blount put the Griffins on the scoreboard with a single to score Jay Mulvey.

Christian Carmolingo on a sacrifice fly.
The Highlanders scored a run back in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to 2-1. They would tie the game 2-2 in the fifth on a two out single.
In the sixth Cairn plated three runs again with two outs. Joey Nieves-Markee scored Brett Marks with his single to left field. Caleb Lang added a two-run single with two outs to plate both Nieves-Markee and Aaron Takacs.
Mike Di Ianni suffered the loss, working six innings for GMercyU while striking out four. John Burlaga earned the win working all seven innings for the Highlanders.
Gwynedd Mercy entertains Eastern on Monday and hosts Delaware Valley on Wednesday before opening a weekend series with Immaculata on Friday.
