IMMACULATA, PA. -- A six-goal spurt in the first half by Immaculata erased a 2-0 Gwynedd Mercy lead as the Mighty Macs would go on and defeat the Griffins, 12-4, Tuesday night in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game.
Lauren Mitros scored twice and
Danae Perrymond and
Brianna Greer also tallied for GMercyU (1-6, 1-2 CSAC), who saw IU net six-straight goals in the first and take a 7-3 lead at the half.
Rosemarie Reitman led Immaculata (4-4, 3-1 CSAC) with a game-high six points on four goals and two assists. Hanna Verrecchia scored three times while Nicole Dominick had a score and three assists.
After 11 first-half shots, Gwynedd recorded 13 in the second, but could only generate one goal. IU posted 33 shots at Griffin goalie
Bria Gillard, who made 12 saves on the evening. The Mighty Macs' Christine McIntyre registered 13.
Perrymond led GM with four groundballs, while she and
Christy Knipe each had three caused turnovers.
The Griffins will look to snap their three-game skid when they visit Delaware Valley on Thursday in a 4 p.m. start.
