SWARTHMORE, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy was held to just three hits in a 7-3 loss at Swarthmore on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup.
Beau Fleming had one of the three hits, a two-run home run in the third.
Jason Mulvey was 1-for-3 with a walk and a personal-best three stolen bases.
The Griffins (9-6) would score a run in the first as Mulvey came home from third on an error on a groundout. GMercyU would later get runners at second and third with two outs but could not get more runs on the board. Swarthmore would answer in the bottom half with three of their own, courtesy of two RBI doubles and a run scored on a wild pitch.
In the bottom of the second, the Garnet (15-4) took advantage of two Griffin errors to score two unearned runs and up their lead to 5-1.
After Fleming's fourth career longball in the third, the team would have just two more hits over the final five innings. Swarthmore's Noah Linhart would go seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, with two walks and three strikeouts. He would retire 11 Griffin batters in a row at one point.
Zach Dennis also went seven innings for the Griffins, giving up five earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
Gwynedd Mercy now heads to Maryland where they'll take on Salisbury tomorrow before travelling to Johns Hopkins on Friday.
