GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy could not pick up their first win on the season as Hood took down the Griffins, 18-4, Thursday evening.
The Blazers had five players with three or more goals on the night. Kara Phoubandith led all scorers with five while Taylor McGaughey, Christina Murphy, Shay Brathwaite, and Jade Locklear all had three goals and two assists apiece.
Lauren Mitros netted two goals for the Griffins (0-3), and
Brianna Greer and
Kerri Flanagan also found the back of the net. Mitros and Greer each had three groundballs.
Hood (4-3) would score three times early in the contest before Flanagan potted her second tally of the season at the 28:18 mark. From there, the Blazers netted the next seven of the half, including two with less than 30 seconds in the stanza to go up 10-1 at the break.
Gwynedd was outshot, 30-13, and saw Hood win the groundball battle, 20-14.

Bria Gillard made six stops as did Blazer keeper Laura Couch.
The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they head to Rosemont in a CSAC matchup starting at 1 p.m.
