DAYTONA BEACH, FL. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell in its first game at the Land of Magic Classic in Florida, as Susquehanna handed the Griffins a 58-47 defeat Wednesday afternoon.

Offensively, GMercyU (4-6) had trouble finding its groove, as no player reached double figures in scoring, but 14 different players would register points on the day. Lyndsay Miccuci had nine points for the Griffins while Julianna Hoisington added eight. Nicole Dombrowski pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Nicole Gault and Courtney Adams each had 11 to lead the River Hawks (9-1), who turned a two-point lead in the second quarter into a 30-18 advantage at the half.

The deficit grew to 19 (48-27) after three quarters and as high as 51-27 in the fourth, but Gwynedd would close the game on a 20-7 run to account for the final score.

For the game, the Griffins were 17-of-53 from the floor (32%) and were a season-low 8-of-19 (42%) from the free-throw line.

Tomorrow, Gwynedd will take on nationally-ranked Mary Washington in a matinee affair starting at 3 p.m.
