GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Soccer team clinched a Colonial States Athletic Conference playoff spot with a 3-0 win over Cairn University on Tuesday afternoon.

Meghan Petroski scored two goals and added an assist while Lauren Melino recorded a goal and an assist to spark the Griffin offense.

Melino put GMercyU (8-6-2, 6-4 CSAC) up 1-0 just 5:40 into the game when she beat the keeper with a well-placed shot from outside the eighteen to score her second goal of the year. Petroski would bookend the halftime scoring when she finished a breakaway opportunity for her eighth of the year.

Petroski would add her second on the day to put the Griffins up 3-0 with a header off of a corner piece assisted by Grace Macnamara.

Kailey Hopkins recorded eleven saves, five in the first half alone, for her seventh shutout of the year. Her counterpart Payton Emerick made nine stops for the Highlanders (5-9-1, 2-7-1 CSAC).

The Griffins return home on Thursday night to celebrate senior night when they host Cabrini University at 6 p.m. in the regular season finale. The squad can finish as either a #4, #5, or #6 seed in the six-team tournament depending on the outcomes of the other games.
