GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Soccer team suffered a 1-0 setback on Wednesday evening to visiting Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
The Mighty Macs scored the game winner in the 67th minute when Paulina Ruccci headed home a corner kick from Carrie Quigley for the game's lone goal.
The Griffins (7-5-2, 5-3 CSAC) had two key second-half opportunities to get on the board.
Meghan Petroski had a chance in the 54th minute to put away a bouncing ball off of a corner attempt but the Mighty Macs were able to make a team save.
In the closing moments,
Morgan McAndrews found herself inside the eighteen but her shot glanced off the outside of the post.
For the game, goalie
Kailey Hopkins made six saves for the Griffins while Allie Tracey made four for Immaculata (6-9, 6-3 CSAC) to record the shutout.
GMercyU returns back to action on Saturday when they travel to Rosemont for a 4 p.m. start time.
