LAPLUME, PA. --
Anna Numerato's goal early in the first half stood up to be the game winner as the Gwynedd Mercy Women's Soccer Team defeated the host Keystone Giants, 1-0, Saturday afternoon.
Goalie
Kailey Hopkins made six big saves for her sixth shutout this season for the Griffins (7-4-2, 5-2 CSAC).
At the 10:40 mark, Numerato would net her second tally of the season and first career game winner as she took a feed from
Meghan Petroski and curled a shot just outside the box.
Hopkins and the defense would make three crucial stops later in the first half as the Griffins withstood a wild scramble in front of the cage.
The Giants (6-6-1, 3-4-1 CSAC) would outshoot GMercyU, 10-1, in the second half, but Hopkins was up to par, recording three more stops to help preserve the shutout. Keystone's Sarah Heintz recorded two stops for Keystone.
For Petroski, the assist was her fifth on the year to move her into fourth place on the all-time list with 24 career helpers.
Gwynedd Mercy welcomes Immaculata on Wednesday night for a CSAC matchup starting at 6 p.m.
