WILLIAMSPORT, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy University Women's Soccer team scored a 3-1 victory at Penn College on Sunday in non-conference action.
Three different Griffins found the back of the net while a late goal from the Wildcats spoiled the shutout.
Sophomore
Jackie Pierson (Lansdale, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored her third goal in as many games, this one coming just 7:44 into the first half as she knocked in a corner kick from the foot of senior
Kerri Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower). Freshman
Morgan McAndrews (Broomall, Pa./Marple-Newtown) made it 2-0 with her first collegiate tally in the 22nd minute to give GM a two-goal lead at the break.
Junior
Ariety Fellenz (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) notched her fourth goal of the young season later in the second off an assist from rookie
Tori Goebig (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower).
Senior goalie
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) recorded three saves in net and was just over 10 minutes away from her 22nd career shutout, but Penn College's Debby Saenz connected on a corner kick which would cap the scoring on the day. Tadley's counterpart, Hailey Heistand was credited with two saves.
Gwynedd Mercy returns to action on Saturday when they host Muhlenburg in an 11 a.m. start time.
