WILLIAMSPORT, PA. -- The Warriors of Lycoming College handed the Griffins their first loss of the season in a 2-1 overtime decision on Saturday afternoon.
After a stellar season opener, the Griffins got on the board early in their first away contest. Sophomore
Meghan Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) found fellow sophomore
Jackie Pierson (Lansdale, Pa./Archbishop Wood) at 2:07 to put Gwynedd up 1-0.
At 16:25 Lycoming's Jordan Lazarich answered from 12 yards out with her first goal of the season after receiving a pass from Meghenn Jackson.
Trading shots for the remainder of the stanza, both the Griffins and Warriors were unable to pull ahead in regulation. The Warriors had a slight edge out shooting the Griffins 17-16 in the contest.
4:14 into overtime play, Jordan Lazarich would secure the win for the Warriors after she placed a rebound into the top left corner of the net for her second goal of the game.
Senior goalie
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) recorded 11 saves for the Griffins. Lycoming's Helen Ross recorded 8 saves in the win.
The Griffins, now 1-1, are back at it again tomorrow afternoon as they take on Penn College of Technology. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
