GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The Cyclones of Centenary College handed the Griffins their first conference loss of the 2015 season Saturday afternoon in a 1-0 decision.
With no score at the break, the Griffins and Cyclones were even at three shots a piece in the first half. GM had a slight advantage in corners at 3-1 but could not find the back of the net.
Midway through the second half, the Cyclones (2-7, 1-2 CSAC) went up 1-0 when Amanda Benoit beat a Griffin defender and fired off a shot across the cage that slipped past senior goalie
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West). It would be the game's only goal as they Centenary went on to outshoot the Griffins 9-5 overall.
Tadley made four saves for the Griffins while Kaitlin Marold made also made four in goal for the Cyclones.
Prior to the game, the National Anthem was performed by Aishlynn Kivlighn, an up-and-coming singer who also performed her latest single, 'Unstoppable' at haltime.
The Griffins (4-3-1, 2-1 CSAC) are back in action next Thursday at 7 p.m. as they take on Alvernia for a non-conference match-up.
