GLENSIDE, PA. -- Sophomore
Logan Welch (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) scored his first collegiate goal but it was the lone highlight for Gwynedd Mercy, as Arcadia netted two second half goals to break 1-1 halftime tie and defeat the Griffins, 3-1, on Wednesday.
Welch's tally, off an assist from senior
Rich Mychack (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge), came in the 32nd minute after an early Arcadia goal. David Colombo would make it 1-0 at the 9:34 mark of the first.
Colombo would later set up Ryan Hammer less than two minutes into the second half to take the lead again. The Knights would tack on an insurance tally in the 61st minute.
Senior goalie
Matt Chilcote (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had eight saves in the contest but the Griffin offense mustered up just four shots to Arcadia's 29 attempts. The Knights (4-3-1) also had 15 corner kicks to GM's two.
Gwynedd Mercy (1-7) looks to end their six-game winless draught when they welcome Keystone here on Saturday in the Griffins' CSAC opener starting at noon.
