GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- A hat trick from sophomore
Meghan Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) helped key Gwynedd Mercy's 4-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference win over Cedar Crest Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Ariety Fellenz (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Liberty) added the other tally as the Griffins (3-2-1, 1-0 CSAC) picked up the CSAC victory.
The three goals were a career-high for Petroski, as Gwynedd dominated the stat sheet, firing out 24 shots and producing 10 corner kicks. Her first goal came in the seventh minute as she was able to outrace a Falcon defender on a clearing and beat Cedar Crest goalie Shelby Szoke on a breakaway.
In the 29th minute, it became 2-0 as Petroski took a pass into the box from
Brittany Mitchell (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) and dribble around two defenders. In the second half,
Danielle Baxter (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) sent a long pass to Petroski who raced in on another breakaway.
Kerri Petroski (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) added the assist on the first goal while
Anna Numerato (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) had the helper on Fellenz's tally, the final one on the day.
Szoke recorded eight saves on the day. GM keeper
Jess Tadley (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) wasn't tested much as she saw one shot on the day.
Gwynedd Mercy resumes action on Wednesday, September 23rd as the continue CSAC play with a matchup at Notre Dame of Maryland.
