GALLOWAY, N.J. -- The Griffin Field Hockey Team posted its third win in a row with a 7-0 shutout win at Stockton on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore
Melissa Russo (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) led the offense with three goals, for her first career hat trick. The senior trio of
Stephanie Bacho (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross),
Megan Senkeleski (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank), and
Katie O'Neill (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) each added a score and an assist.
Russo scored twice in the game's first four minutes, staking the Griffins (3-2) to an early lead. O'Neill would later assist on sophomore
Brianna O'Connell (Berlin, N.J./Eastern)'s goal at the 15:11 mark and add her own score right before the half as GM held a 4-0 advantage at the break.
It was more than enough for the Griffin defense and goalie
Samantha Soscia (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) as the sophomore recorded four saves on the day for her second career shutout.
Stockton goalie Emily Sorochynskyj was kept busy, making 11 saves on 21 Gwynedd shots.
The Griffins (3-2) head down route 309 on Tuesday evening to square off with Arcadia in a 7 p.m. start.
